Go to Disk Management and assign a drive letter to the drive.
You may need to initialize and format it. If you do, you will lose any data on the drive.
Below is the expanded explanation of what you need to do once you get to Disk Management
Also, before proceeding, make sure you have backed up any data on your drive, because YOU WILL LOSE IT. Sorry, just part of the process.

Once you get to disk management, there should be 3 panes: the leftmost pane is where you click on disk management under storage. The rightmost pane should be titled Actions. You will be using the center pane.
To make sure you have the correct view for these instructions, click on View on the menu bar and make sure Top is set to Volume List, and Bottom is set to Graphical View.
When you look at the Volume list, the drive you are trying to format will, in all likelihood NOT show up in the list. It will probably list your C drive and System Reserved which is also part of your C drive. I had a disk in my CD drive, so it showed
When you look at the Graphical view, scroll if you need to, you should see your C drive split into two parts--the C and the System Reserve. If you single click on each of these in the Graphical pane, you will notice that it will highlight in the Volume
You should also see the drive you are trying to format in the Graphical view. When you click on it, you will NOT see a corresponding highlight in the Volume list, because it is not yet recognized as a system volume.
Before proceeding, verify your file system type, by clicking Start, Computer, then right clicking your C drive and highlighting Properties and clicking the General tab. It will in all likelihood be NTFS, but NTFS or FAT, make a note of it, because when
you format your additional drive, you will want to format it to the same file system type.
Right click on the drive you wish to format, and delete any partitions. I don t remember exactly how the menu option read, I just remember that it was the last one on the list You may get a message warning you that you have an extended partition asking
you if you want to continue. Say yes.
Once this step is complete, right click on the drive again, and select Simple Partition. From this point, a wizard will open giving you the opportunity to assign a drive letter and the file system type. Make sure that you match your file system type
to the one you noted in system properties. Once the wizard has completed, you should see you drive in the Volume list as well.
